Thank you for supporting improvements to the O’Hara Couryard!

The O’Hara PTO is holding a plant sale to benefit future improvement to the O’Hara Courtyard. The sale will run now through May 1st and orders will be available for pick up on Saturday, May 11th from 2pm – 5pm (just in time for Mother’s Day!). Anyone may participate, so please consider sharing with friends and families. Advance purchase is required.

About the Courtyard Improvement Project

O’Hara is fortunate to have a private outdoor courtyard nestled in our building’s interior. However, the space is underutilized and in need of some upgrades. In 2017, the PTO purchased six outdoor tables with umbrellas to provide students the opportunity to access the outdoors during lunch and instructional time. The District matched the PTO’s purchase, doubling the number of students and staff who could be outside at the same time. The PTO has continued to work with building administration, teachers and the District to explore additional improvements to the courtyard.

Future improvements may include an outdoor classroom, raised garden beds and additional landscaping. While these plans have been temporarily stalled due to a drainage issue being addressed by the District, the PTO remains committed to the project and our efforts to increase outdoor time for our students. We are currently in the process of purchasing another 4 tables with umbrellas to complete the outdoor seating area.
