About Volunteer Opportunities

Looking to get more involved in your child’s classroom or the school? There are many opportunities to volunteer, both in and out of the classroom. Help is always needed and appreciated.

Homeroom Representative

A Homeroom Representative is chosen for each classroom at the beginning of the school year. The Homeroom Representative communicates regularly with the teacher/caregivers in the class and coordinates parties and teacher gifts. This is an ideal volunteer position for someone who would like a leadership role in the classroom.  Look for signups for this position early in the year. Clearances required

Classroom Volunteers

There are many different ways to volunteer in the classroom.

Class Party Planners  – There are four annual parties held in your child’s classroom at O’Hara Elementary:  Halloween, Winter, Valentine’s and Year End. These parties last approximately an hour and generally involve 3-4 stations of crafts, games, stories, etc. If interested in helping, contact your child’d homeroom representative. Clearances required

Lunch/Recess Volunteers

The lunch/recess periods begin at 10:30 and lasts until 1:50. In 2021-2022 volunteers were needed; however, it is not determined if these volunteers are needed for 2022-2023 at this time.

Committees

The O’Hara Elementary PTO has several committees that work on various activities and roles throughout the school. If you’re interested in joining or learning more, reach out to their chairs.

Special Events

The O’Hara Elementary PTO also hosts a variety of fun school-wide events during the school year. Volunteers are always needed to assist with these:
