Thank you to all those who were able to make the Emergency District Forum meeting last night regarding the Property Tax Independence Act. For those of you who were unable to attend but would like to learn more about this meeting please visit the Forum website.
Our school community must voice our concerns regarding this proposed legislation that radically alters how schools are funded in the state of Pennsylvania. This bill is gaining momentum and our legislators must hear our voices—TODAY.
3 ACTIONS REQUIRED IMMEDIATELY:
1. Please see the attached letter with instructions on how to contact your senator. CALL HIM TODAY!!! Please document that you have made your phone call (send yourself or fcdistrictforum@gmail.com an email documenting your call)—this is important because we need to be able to hold our legislators accountable.
2. Please see the attached packet that was distributed last night at the meeting. Please reach out to the Senators who have supported this legislation in the past and the newly elected Senators. It does not matter that you are not in their district—as Pennsylvania citizens we have a right to voice our concerns that any Senator supports this legislation.
3. Please print and sign the attached letter. Return it to your child’s school and we will fax it to the legislators on your behalf.
Great news! The proposal has been sent back to the drawing board: http://foxchapeldistrictforum.com/2017/02/06/proposal-sent-back-to-drawing-board/
